Born in Indonesia, Jacobus Alfons, known as Bobby, immigrates to the Netherlands and learns to appreciate juniper alcohol, nicknamed « Dutch Courage ». Although he likes gin, he misses the flavors of his native country. It was while trying to find them that he created his own gin recipe by infusing Indonesian botanics into local alcohol. Alas, his recipe seemed to have disappeared with him. A few years later, in 2012, his grandson Sebastiaan discovered a bottle of the precious elixir in the family attic. In order to copy the unique taste, he asked Herman Jansen’s master distiller, a distillery specialized in the elaboration of juniper since 1777. Together, they recreate the recipe of yesteryear and offer us to fall in love with it too with Bobby’s Gin Schiedam Dry Gin. Particularly appreciated in mixology, gin is a plant-flavored brandy that forms the basis of many famous cocktails. Dry Martini, Gin Fizz, Gin Tonic, Cucumber Lemonade and many more have become go-to drinks in cocktail bars. Although it has been less popular for a while, gin has now come back in strength with original, bold and rich recipes rich in aromas still unpublished until then for this type of spirits. Although the traditional gin recipe invariably contains juniper berry at the origin of its particular taste, different producers of alcohols and spirits are no longer hesitant to vary the choice and dosage of herbs, herbs, plants and spices according to the flavors they wish to obtain. The result is different styles of gin including the legendary London Dry Gin.
