Since 2000, the independent company Compass Box has been focused on enhancing assembly work as a real handicraft. Specialized in blending whiskies purchased from large houses, it has become a reference in the genre. John Glaser, the master assembler behind the Compass Box brand, created The Peat Monster, a peated whiskey from a meticulously thought out work. Originally made from several whiskies from Islay and Speyside, it comes back in a simplified version that goes to the essentials. Since 2019, The Peat Monster consists of two single malt whiskies from Islay, known for its peated single malt whisky, and a blended malt from the Highlands. Vivid and concentrated, this version of The Peat Monster is for those seeking the perfect balance between intense peat, minty freshness and aromatic richness. Its smoky nose goes on lemon peels, pepper and Granny Smith apple. The saline and medicinal palate highlights peat and vanilla cream to finish on a long and spicy finish marked by cold ash. A must in any spirits cellar that respects itself, whiskey is a grain brandy made from cereals (barley, oats, wheat, rye).
